Exterior protection

What it is

What is exterior protection?

Exterior protection is a transparent, self-healing film for the outside of the yacht, applied exactly where wear occurs: cap rails, steps and stairs, bathing platforms, fender rub areas, the area around the exhausts, the spots where the tender comes alongside and deck areas where shoes and luggage scratch the paint or gelcoat.

The film is available in matte and gloss and matches the original finish, so the protection is virtually invisible. It takes the impact of daily use, keeps the paintwork flawless and preserves the yacht's residual value. We apply the film on location, wherever the yacht is.

Preventing instead of repainting

Why protect the exterior?

Repairing exterior damage is costly: damaged gelcoat can rarely be repaired completely invisibly and quickly calls for extra time at the yard. Protection film prevents the damage from occurring at all: the film takes the scratches and scuffs, not the paint.

The film has a self-healing top layer: light scratches disappear by themselves in the warmth of the sun. It withstands UV radiation, salt water and weather conditions, and can be removed and renewed locally when needed.

Process

How we work

We apply exterior protection on board or at the yard, wherever the yacht is. New build, refit or in service: the film can be applied at any moment.

Benefits

The advantages of exterior protection

Preventing damage is faster, cheaper and better looking than repairing it.

  • Prevents damage

The film takes scratches and scuffs from fenders, tenders, shoes and luggage before they reach the paint or gelcoat.

  • Virtually invisible

Matte and gloss finishes match the original paintwork, so the protection does not stand out.

  • Self-healing

Light scratches disappear by themselves under the influence of heat; the film withstands UV radiation, salt water and weather conditions, and its water-repellent surface is easy to keep clean.

  • Protects residual value

The original paintwork stays flawless underneath, and damaged film is renewed locally.

Experience

Years of film work on board

We have been applying film on board superyachts for more than fifteen years, on glass and on the surfaces around it. We know where wear occurs on deck and how to protect those areas invisibly.

We work cleanly and precisely, without disrupting the schedule on board. That is why shipyards and captains in more than twenty countries ask us back.
