Glass restoration craftsmanship on board

The story

The craftsman behind Finestra

Patrick Smid, founder of Finestra International

Finestra International works exclusively in the luxury yacht segment. On board superyachts we polish scratches and deposits out of glass, repair pits and chips with resin, and protect glass, interior and paintwork with film and coating. Black borders and interior wrapping are part of our work too.

For more than fifteen years we have been working on board, in Australia, Singapore, Turkey, France, Great Britain, Spain and Germany among others, for captains, owners, shipyards, glass suppliers and manufacturers. Glass is the core, and protection is inseparable from it: every day we see what a refit or intensive use does to unprotected glass and interiors.

The team combines technical expertise with aesthetic perfection to bring every project to a high-quality result. We work discreetly: no photos on board, no names. Our work speaks through word of mouth, and when new damage appears, many clients ask for a return visit.

We promise nothing we cannot deliver. First we assess the glass or the surface on board, then we tell you honestly what is achievable and what to expect from the result. Your wishes lead; modern techniques and years of experience deliver old-fashioned quality.

Values

How we work on board.

Four principles that shape every treatment, every piece of advice and every finish.

  • Restoring instead of replacing

We restore scratches, pits and deposits on board, with the window in place. Faster and up to 80% cheaper than new glass, and the glass becomes stronger.

  • Protecting before damage occurs

Protective film on glass, interior and paintwork takes grinding spatter, scratches and wear; a coating keeps salt, limescale and dirt off the glass.

  • Assess first, then honest advice

No remote quotes. We look at the glass or the surface on board and tell you in advance what is achievable and what to expect from the result.

  • Worldwide on location

Australia, Singapore, Turkey, France, Great Britain, Spain, Germany and beyond, wherever the yacht is. No photos on board, no names.
